Upcoming car launches in India
1.   Maruti Suzuki:

a.   CERVO:

A Direct rival to Chevrolet spark. It will sport a small 600cc or 800cc engine.
Prices expected to be around 2-3lakhs.

b.   Swift:

New age swift is a li’l bigger cabin space, better all round looks. It has recently achieved a remarkable 4star rating in Europe crash testing. Prices aren’t expected to change but it may cost 10grand extra.

c.   R3:

Showcased in the Delhi auto expo, is a car that fills a void between a maruti Suzuki eeco and Toyota innova. Prices expected to be in the 4-6lakhs range.

d.   Jimny:

This one will be a surprise for all Indians. This micro SUV will be placed below the Tata safari, sumo Grande and Mahindra Scorpio and xylo. Might have a 1.3ltr engine sourced from fiat. Will have 4 doors and will have hatch back type length.

e.   Swift dzire:

It will share everything with the new swift. But it will be less than 4 meters in length to avoid the increased tax bracket. So it, surprisingly will be cheaper when compared to the current model.

2.   Hyundai:

a. Eon    :

thought of as a NANO killer, its more of a ALTO killer...
This car somewhat looks like the current outgoing i10 and might have a small less than 1000cc engine. Prices will be in the 2-3.5lakhs bracket.

b.   i10 diesel:

This will be Hyundai’s attempt to steal customers from the maruti Suzuki’s showrooms. The entry version may be prices under 4lakhs rupees.

c.   Sonata:

The new sonata follows Hyundai’s new fluidic designing language. Pricing will be a thing to wait for because Hyundai may price it below Skoda superb and Honda accord, right next to Suzuki kizashi(around 16-18lakhs approx).

3.   Chevrolet:

a.   Beat diesel:

Ready for the launch, beat has a 1ltr, 3cylinder common rail diesel engine that they jointly produced with fiat. It delivers a max torque of 150nm at 4000rpm. This will be a gr8 rival to the Hyundai i10 diesel( around 3.5-5.5lakhs).

b.   Spark 800cc:

Spark will be launched with a petite 800cc motor and the no frills version will be a threat to the Tata nano and the maruti Suzuki alto (around 2-2.5 lakhs).

c.   Sail:

Chevrolet plans to launch four new cars in 2011 and the Chevrolet Sail is one of them. The Sail is the first GM car that is designed and developed completely in China. This has helped GM to bring down its development cost. So the cost will be around 5-7laks.

d.   Beat and spark electric:

Chevrolet has entered into a contract with maini motors. Maini motors is the company that produces the reva electric car. They’ll launch electric versions of the both cars and the beat may be priced within rupees 4lakhs and the beat will be costlier than the spark. Beat currently runs for approx. 130kms in a full charge. And it takes 8hrs for the car to recharge fully.

4.   Ford:

a.   Fiesta hatch:

This car may be launch before the end of 2011 or in the beginning of 2012. This will have a variety of engine choices. It will be placed with its rivals, swift, polo, i20, micra, fabia, punto, and the rest. So it may cost you around 5-7lakhs. Diesel option will be offered.

5.   Renault:

a.   Duster:

Renault has confirmed it officially that they will launch 5 cars till 2013. Duster will be the entry level SUV and will be placed with the Tata safari and the Mahindra Scorpio. It will be priced between 7-8lakhs and shares its platform with the Renault Logan(discontinued). It may have 2 diesel engine choices. One being the 1.5ltr engine that presently serves the Nissan micra!

b.   Koleos:

“Koleos will be a premium product offering” said the Renault official during a recent press meeting. So expect this car to be in a price range of 17lakhs+ therefore will be a competitor to tha Honda cr-v, and
Chevrolet captive.

c.   B segment hatchback:

It will share its platform, engine and parts with the Nissan micra . it will be a somewhat Xerox copy of the Nissan micra though the looks will differ. Expect the prices anywhere between 4-6lakhs.

6.   Mahindra:

a.   Xylo mini:

This car will be a mini version of the current xylo and will be under 4 meter is length to gain tax benefits. However, it will not have a 3rd row of seating. As that has been cut off to make it short. The tax exemption will bring the prices down to somewhere around 6lakhs.

b.   Verito mini:

Yes, verito will also be chopped off so that it gets the tax exemtion, therefore will bring the prices down from 4+ lakhs to somewhere around 3.5lakhs approx. will be a direct rival to the indigo cs.

c.   W201 or XUV-500 :

The new age SUV by Mahindra is a global model, so it’ll be launched in the US, south America, some parts of Europe and Thailand.

7.   Skoda:

a.   Rapide:

This is a sedan that shares the platform and engines with the Volkswagen Vento. But it will follow the Skoda designing language so it will probably look like a fabia with a boot. Expect the prices to also be the same.

b.   Fabia scout:

It’s an estate version of the fabia. So therefore I think that it will be more of a “rapide scout” than fabia scout. It will be placed just below the Skoda yeti.

8.   Tata:

a.   Nano diesel:

Yes, it’s in testing phase and expect this car to be out in the early 2012s. It will offer a fuel economy of more than 30km/l!!!!
Prices should remain under 3lakhs.

b.   New safari:

Can’t say anything about it yet as the leaked picture aren’t that much clear. But as of now, it seems that this car had only certain specific cosmetic changes. And yes, the front looks bad..!!
It’s too soon to talk about the prices yet.

9.   Honda:

a.   Brio:

Well awaited car in India, it’ll take on its rivals like the swift, polo, punto, etc. should be pricesd below the 4.5lakh range to make it a high volume sales car. It will have a small 1ltr or the 1.2ltr engine.

b.   Diesel engines for cr-v and accord:
Yes, finally Honda WILL launch diesel version of their premium offerings. Though its an excellent idea, but the question I would like to ask Honda is that, why the detail?? Hondas in india sell like cake, this option will make the offer even more hard to resist.
